Healthy Options for an Office Holiday Party

If you weren’t aware, it’s the time of the year where you set your bathroom scale back twenty pounds, also known as the holiday season. With so many parties to attend and plenty of comfort food to consume, it can be difficult to maintain your weight (especially when party hosts send you home with far too many but incredibly delicious holiday cookies). While many office parties focus on the usual suspects at a holiday party, most of your coworkers will be happy to see a spread of carrots with some ranch dressing to have a break from the carb-heavy food offerings of the holiday season.

Instead of bringing the veggie platter, blow your coworkers away with some healthy yet totally delicious options in holiday party food.

Detox Water

Borrow an idea from the spa and create some detoxing water to help wash down some of the food already in everyone’s system. A simple detox water is simple to make. Drop in some fruit or fresh herbs into a pitch of water and leave it in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, you will have delicious, chilled water that will help soothe stomachs that have had far too much food this season.

Lavender Lemonade

For an alternate beverage that will also help soothe tummies, lavender lemonade is both beautiful and good-tasting, while staying simple to make. This drink is simply the refreshing taste of lemon paired with the aroma of lavender in the same pitcher.

Banana Splits on a Stick

This sounds a lot less healthy than the other options, but the name is deceptive, along with its taste. Grab a kabob stick and put a chunk of pineapple, a slice of banana and a strawberry, or other fruit if you so choose, and dip them in chocolate. For an extra bonus, cover the chocolate in crushed almonds for a full banana split experience.

Cucumber and Hummus

For a refreshing bite that packs some protein, throwing together cucumber and hummus is a great option. Simply slice a cucumber into thin rounds then use a small teaspoon to put a dab of hummus on each slice. Finish the easy dish by topping each with a halved cherry tomato, crumbled feta cheese and some freshly chopped parsley. Preparation takes little time but your coworkers will be impressed with your creativity.
